ProStream 1000 Reaching Milestones in Print Volume Capabilities

Over Two Billion Pages to Date Have Been Printed on the ProStream 1000 Continuous Feed Inkjet Press

March 23, 2020 — According to IDC’s recent review and forecast of the worldwide inkjet production market for 2019–2023, the use of high-speed inkjet should continue to rise in the beginning of the new decade. Proving it to be a strong example of the power of inkjet, the ProStream 1000 in just under three years has revolutionized production printing, by enabling its users to migrate high-value work from offset to inkjet and helping to increase efficiency and digital workflows with great speed.

“We’ve seen uptime of more than 95 percent. If we need to get something out quickly, it goes on the ProStream,” said Angela Hipelius, CEO of Liberty Creative Solutions. “You just have to keep feeding it paper and ink because, once it gets going, it will get your jobs lined up and even run for one or two shifts straight.”

Since its first installation in November 2017, leaders across the industry have recognized the added benefits of investing in ProStream 1000’s technology. There are currently 30 ProStream installations worldwide. Designed for high-quality, heavy-volume content printing, the ProStream 1000 continuous feed inkjet series can print at a speed of 262 feet per minute with a high-capacity duty cycle of up to 35 million A4 pages per month. This is the equivalent of printing 12.8 million copies of a typical 350-page paperback book.

“We’re advancing the medium of print,” said Frank Ehrhorn, Sales Director for Eversfrank Group. “The ProStream 1000, backed by Canon’s expertise in integrating digital workflows for variable data, has enabled us to begin a new chapter for a variety of services we offer, and opened up new possibilities for our customers on a large industrial scale.”

In addition, Canon has enhanced the ProStream 1000 with an even broader range of media, supporting paper weights up to 300gsm/300µm (~12pt), thanks to an enhanced paper transport and drying station. This feature enables customers to produce applications, such as postcards or cover materials for catalogs or magazines, on a much wider scale.

“We are pleased with the positive feedback of the ProStream press from our customers and how this press is helping their businesses grow,” said Peter Kowalczuk, President, Canon Solutions America. “We look forward to evolving this press to continue to meet the business needs and expectations of our customers.”
