Dear Valued Customer,
Canon Solutions America is committed to providing the highest quality products and services to our customers. As a technology provider, we understand that evolving technologies allow our customers to establish and maintain competitive advantages, achieve operational efficiencies, and provide superior customer service.
Like many technology providers, we also understand that product End-of-Life (EOL) is a normal part of the life cycle for any product. While it can be challenging at times, this part of the life cycle ultimately drives new technology development and product innovation. All products eventually reach the end of their useful life, requiring a business decision to discontinue availability and maintenance.
Recently, Microsoft Corporation made such a decision regarding the Windows XP SP3 operating system (also known as Windows XP Professional). As outlined in the "Windows XP Professional - End of Support" document, while the impacted print controllers attached to Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE and imagePRESS production print engines will continue to provide the print processing and job management functions as designed, the operating systems on these controllers will no longer receive Windows Updates from Microsoft.
Canon Solutions America encourages our customers to evaluate and manage the risks associated with Microsoft's announcement, and take the appropriate actions based upon individual corporate policies and security requirements.
While upgrading to a new operating system (OS) is not mandatory and Canon Solutions America will continue to provide maintenance and software support consistent with our contract obligations, we recognize the challenges the Microsoft announcement may pose for some of our customers. As a result, we've developed an imagePRESS and imageRUNNER ADVANCE upgrade program designed to help our customers as they transition from existing Windows XP Professional platforms, to a supported Microsoft OS. The upgrade kits include not only a new OS, but when installed on print controllers for imagePRESS production engines, introduce new features and functionality that enhance productivity, workflow, and usability. Upgrade options are also available for other products affected by Microsoft's announcement.
Please contact the Canon Solutions America national help desk at 1-800-355-1385 for more information on the upgrade program.
The Windows XP Upgrade Program is available for a limited time only. Please contact your Canon Solutions America sales representative to reserve your print controller upgrade kit.
