Dimensional and Textured Printing Applications from Canon Solutions America

Help your customers embrace their sense of touch and experience print in new ways.

Print does not need to be limited to the sense of sight but can also be a tactile experience. Now you can have graphics that not only look good but feel good too.

Multiple layers of ink can be used to create texture and dimension. Now you can replicate the brushstrokes in an oil painting, create embossed letters or logos, simulate real world items like snakeskin or wood grain or even print braille to produce ADA-compliant signage. Dimensional and textured printing opens up exciting new high-margin opportunities that few can produce.

ADA Braille

Until recently, production of ADA-compliant braille signs was laborious, expensive, and done mechanically. First by drilling holes into a rigid substrate, inserting beads, and then applying thick tactile lettering, or by casting the sign from molten plastic or metal.

With advances in digital printing-particularly 3D printing and UV-curable inkjet printing, ADA-compliant braille signage can now be produced more quickly and at a much lower cost by using digital printing.

Due to the exceptional accuracy of the Océ Arizona® UV flatbed printer and its stationary table architecture, an ink drop can be placed on top of another ink drop to build up braille characters to exacting dimensions and produce the tactile lettering all at the same time. Our innovative line of products gives you low-cost and efficient production. Whether you create just one or one hundred — each braille sign costs the same.

Art Reproduction

Art Reproduction

Art reproduction is the process of replicating paintings and other art originals with a printer. It is often used by artists, galleries, museums, and print shops when high quality printing is needed. These reproductions require an exceptional level of color accuracy and resolution.

Art reproduction applications are mostly used in interior décor settings like offices and homes, or for the archiving needs of museums and galleries.

Using the Océ Arizona® Series flatbed printer, art reproductions are often printed on canvas or photo paper. These applications are typically printed using pigmented inks that are ideal for archiving. Fine art reproduction can also be laminated to protect and extend the print longevity.

Coasters

Decorative coasters are a novel application that can utilize dimensional printing using the Océ Arizona® Series printer.

The slightly raised patterns or images can help keep condensation or liquid on the outside of the glass from creating a vacuum between the glass and the coaster. This allows the two to more easily separate from each other so the coaster stays on the table when you raise your glass.

Phone Cases

Phone Cases

Personalization drives demand for digital product decoration and phone covers are just one example of a common item that can be imprinted to better reflect its owner.

Using an Océ Arizona® Series printer with UV inks, this printing solution allows you to print directly onto the flat surface of pre-manufactured cell phone covers. This cost-saving print solution enables you to become more like custom manufacturers opening your business up to new business opportunities.

Retail Display

Dimensional and textured printing can be used in the retail display environment as a texture element or as a type treatment such as embossed letters or logos.

Displays with a tactile feel can make more of a connection to the customer and better convey the brand’s messaging or product.

Tiles & Wall Panels

Tiles & Wall Panels

With the ability to print textures like wood grain, stone or even snakeskin onto decorative tiles or even larger wall panels, interior décor options are nearly limitless when using an Océ Arizona® Series printer. Digitally printing these tile and wall panel applications enables your customers to be in complete control of the color and design. These textured panels are often less expensive to produce than some of the materials that it simulates and are usually lighter weight and easier to work with.

Flat panels and tiles can be printed on to create unique artwork on the walls as well as the ceiling. Popular “standoff” style displays allow for dimensional printing of a design or photograph. Dimensional printing allows you to take an image or design and build up ink through a special processes which can create a “stained glass” look or create a raised pattern on an image. Regular ceiling tiles can be directly printed on with a large ceiling mural or a special pattern depending on what you or your customers create.
