The Océ ImageStream™ 3500 inkjet press is based on the Océ JetStream® Wide series and comprises components that have proven to be amongst the best in the industry. The core of the imaging technology is the Océ DigiDot® piezoelectric drop-on-demand technology, which uses the industry’s fastest and most reliable print heads.
It is available in a 4/4 color configuration with native 1200 dpi print resolution for excellent output quality. Additionally, it prints on a variety of substrates including offset coated and uncoated stock, as well as inkjet coated and inkjet treated media. This makes the system the ideal solution for a wide range of applications, including, for example, high-quality books, brochures, magazines, personalized catalogs and direct mail applications.
Up to now, high-quality output on inkjet printing systems has very much depended on the paper used. Printing professionals normally have to use special, inkjet treated papers or special add-ons such as bonding agents or primers to achieve the best possible quality.
Equipped with the most recently developed Kyocera print heads and new ink chemistry, the Océ ImageStream 3500 enables you to print on standard offset coated stock which you are already using on your offset presses while achieving excellent and consistent output quality over the whole print run. There is no need for two different paper stocks; one for digital and one for offset printing. The job (run length, turn-around, print window) determines the technology that is used and opens up a whole new world of business opportunities.
In addition to offset coated gloss, silk or matt papers, the Océ ImageStream also naturally supports inkjet optimized or inkjet treated papers – ranging from 64–157 gsm. Providing you with the ultimate flexibility and choice of media for your application portfolio.
Offering a printing speed of up to 525 feet/min and a print width of 29.5 inches the system produces up to 3,436 letters/min, 3-up. Its 30" wide web produces the productivity of a classic sheet-fed offset press combined with the advantages of digital printing: printon-demand and short runs to fulfill given orders instead of printing high amounts to be cost-effective per copy, customized content, and quick job turn-around.
The powerful Océ PRISMA® workflow suite, a modularly extendable, fully integrated range of sophisticated software tools, ensures effective, reliable workflow management from prepress to finishing. Variable personalization of catalogs or promotional documents can easily be embedded into existing workflows. Moreover, the support from Océ – with Professional Services such as business process and application consulting – is seen as decisive in accelerating the transition from traditional offset to profitable digital full color production.
The Océ ImageStream 3500 includes the high-performance and scalable Océ SRA® MP controller offering uninterrupted printing at full engine speed. The embedded Adobe APPE® engine 3 allows the support of a native PDF format which is ripped directly on the printer controller, thus eliminating the costly and time-consuming intermediate process. Combined with the Océ PRISMA workflow software, Océ provides an efficient printing system with best-in-class productivity through a resilient production workflow and sturdy printer technology.
The ingenious combination of a new aqueous pigment ink and newly developed native 1200 dpi print heads significantly enlarges the paper spectrum available for the Océ ImageStream 3500 including standard offset coated stock.
