Transfer and Direct Dye Sublimation remains the predominant printing process to produce digitally printing fabric products such as polyester. The transfer sublimation process entails printing onto special transfer paper than is then placed in contact with the polyester fabric. Under heat and press, the ink on the paper sublimates into the polyester to produce the resulting printed graphics on the fabric. With Direct Dye Sublimation, printing occurs on specially-treated polyester fabric with is then heated to initiate the sublimation process. Direct sublimation printed fabrics can be viewed on both sides, which makes them an excellent choice for producing flags.
